WELCOME TO THE SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
OF THE PARISH OF SACRED HEART AND HOLY SOULS, ACOCKS GREEN
PRAY FOR OUR WORK
Lord Jesus, you who willed to become poor, give us eyes and a heart directed towards the poor; help us to recognise you in them - in their hunger, their loneliness, and their misfortune. Enkindle within our Vincentian Family, unity, simplicity, humility and the fire of love that burned in St. Vincent de Paul.
Strengthen us, so that, faithful to the practice of these virtues, we may contemplate you and serve you in the person of the poor, and may one day be united with you and them in Your kingdom. Amen
WHAT IS THE SVP?
Visit and befriend older or lonely and isolated people, support the homeless, help refugees and asylum seekers, support vulnerable families and children. There is plenty of outreach work to be done here in Acocks Green. We now need parishioners to think about responding to this need and joining the SVP. Can you be generous in giving a little time to help?
DONATIONS
These can be made by posting money to the Church, handing it to a priest or donating to the St Anthony’s Box in the porch of the church which will be given to the work of our Parish SVP Conference.

SVP PARISH FOODBANK
Thank you for the support you are giving to our SVP food bank in the porch of the church. The donations are supporting some very needy families in our community.

HAMPERS: ILSLEY CHRISTMAS SPIRIT

8/12/2022

Picture
Parishioners who are sick and housebound, as well as families in need were beneficiaries of the generosity of the students and staff at Archbishop Isley, the Catholic Secondary school in our parish which serves a greater area than B27. We thank them for their generosity and witness to giving to those in need, especially at such difficult times for all people with the ongoing cost of living crisis. All our parishioners were so thankful to our students for there kindness.

In true Vincentian style, full of the love of God and spirit of the gospel our parish is benefitting from the dedicated service and prayer of our SVP members.

If you would like to know more, either to join our society or receive help and support it would be a joy to share our story with you. Please contact the presbytery to find more or all for one of our members at Church. Please continue to pray for our work.

REFORMING OF THE PARISH SVP

7/9/2020

In early 2021 the parish of Sacred Heart and Holy Souls invited parishioners to restart the Saint Vincent de Paul society in the parish. By September 2021, new members began meeting every other Tuesday evening to pray, discuss and visit people identified as needing a sick visit, assistance or befriending within the B27 area. All our members are fully DBS checked in accordance with statutes of the SVP and Diocesian and national guidelines.
