FAITH IN ACTION - Lent & Easter 2022 - our parish SVP group continue visiting and making a difference in our parish community. During the latter part of Lent they took Easter gifts to those most in need and also visited the parish primary school with a delivery of food.
January 2022
Our parish SVP group are pleased to announce that its members, who have been meeting each week since September 2021, are now fully DBS checked and functioning society, able to visit parishioners and contacts in the Acocks Green B27 area.
Over Christmas 2021 the group identified people in our community who could benefit from a hamper. 20 plus hampers have been distributed prepared by the form classes at Archbishop Ilsley.
If you know of anyone in need of a chat, advice or help of any sort practical assistance please get in touch with the parish who will advise the SVP to help you. Please keep the work of the group and its members in your prayers.
What does the SVP do?
Visit and befriend older or lonely and isolated people, support the homeless, help refugees and asylum seekers, support vulnerable families and children. There is plenty of outreach work to be done here in Acocks Green. We now need parishioners to think about responding to this need and joining the SVP. Can you be generous in giving a little time to help?
DONATIONS TO THE SOCIETY
These can be made by posting money to the Church, handing it to a priest or donating to the St Anthony’s Box in the porch of the church which will be given to the work of our Parish SVP Conference.

PRAYER FOR THE SOCIETY
Lord Jesus, you who willed to become poor, give us eyes and a heart directed towards the poor; help us to recognise you in them - in their hunger, their loneliness, and their misfortune. Enkindle within our Vincentian Family, unity, simplicity, humility and the fire of love that burned in St. Vincent de Paul.
Strengthen us, so that, faithful to the practice of these virtues, we may contemplate you and serve you in the person of the poor, and may one day be united with you and them in Your kingdom. Amen
